Description:
This amazing post and beam dutch colonial home built c. 1770-80 is nearly restored without removing the authentic feel for what life must have been like in early America. With 8 fireplaces, a beehive oven, and multi-pane windows with old world glass, large front porch overlooking the fenced farm this is a gem.
The Colden family was an interesting part of American history and played a significant role in colonial America. (Jane Colden is a favorite of ours!). This house belonged to Thomas, sheriff of Ulster County and grandson of the Lt. Governor of New York. Later the farm was part of the Alex Campbell Milk Co. in the late 1800’s and Colden House continued to play a significant role in Hudson Valley history.
Now as a vacation rental and upcoming barn event venue (https://www.vrbo.com/1153362) this home has a feeling of seclusion while still within 10 mins of Stewart Airport and 90 mins from Manhattan.
